Train trips
Warning: I have no time to spell check or read over so I hope everything comes out alright
This p-day is truly one of rest after going to MLC monday, then turning around and going back for Zone Conference the next day. Although in all honesty I'm glad we didn't just stay because there is nothing like your own bed. And they were 2 days filled with great conversations, insights, and spiritual messages.Quick list:
*I had to say goodbye to some of my favorite missionaries going home this transfer
*I have had $2 on my card for the past 5 days
*We ran into members walking past a gelateria, and while we were eating another member family walked past (who were walking with their tour boat guide because she said that they had a light and wanted to talk with them more #referral)
*Walking home from that interaction we walked into the extended family of the first family we met
*We went out with some members to advertise a family history event, they really taught me about being bold because they are not afraid to chase after people in their cars and on bikes
*After nearly catching up on our referrals I met with president and we decided to open up our ad to all of Italy, not just northern italy...
*I impressed our new Sorella missionary with my knowledge of British words, pop culture, and people
*I saw someone driving an ambulance while smoking
*I also learned that saying you make lemonade with someone means you're making out with them. Luckily I learned this before ever saying it though. And for the same reason you do not conjugate 'to spread' in the we form.
Miracle moment
While at said event for family history there was a girl in the room full of missionaries who looked about our age but she sat all the way across from me and just looked uncomfortable. I felt bad and wanted to talk to her but then people came in the room to give us some small trainings and she left. But I knew that I just had to go out and find her after and talk. But I searched the building twice and could not find her. I was sad and assumed she left before things even really started. Then as I was thinking to myself I felt soooooo chastised by the Lord. I knew exactly how that girl had felt, and how amazing it would have been to have someone reach out. I prayed she didn't leave so I could make her feel welcome. And right after I look out the windows and see her, so I RUN. In fact I ran so fast that I realized when I got to her I had not form any thought on what I would say. So we had a very short conversation, and I was not performing my best at italian. But I did find out she was actually a 20 year old member in our ward (even though we were like 1.5 hours from Como) but she said she hasn't come to church in a long time and her family is inactive. In the end I felt like I failed the convo and should have done better. But move to sunday AND WHO WALKS IN. That's right she made it back. And it wasn't like she was with family, but she did find another GANS (YSA) to sit next to. Anyway then after church all 4 missionaries and her were able to talk with each other. AND she said she wants to come to English class on Thursday and we planned a volleyball game for friday! It just made my day. Even from my first few weeks in italy I felt how important it is to strengthen the members that we already have.
Anyway it's been a good couple of weeks. I hope everything is going well for all of you. Happy summer!
