3 Months
This week was a pretty good week! I've also hit over 3 months as a missionary! That may not seem like a lot compared to two years but thats the same amount of time if not longer that I worked at MOD this past summer; which is kinda weird for me to think about. Anyway, let's break down this week a little:
1) We got someone on date to be baptized! His name is Edi and actually he was taught a few years ago but wasn't baptized because his family was against it. But he moved out and is now meeting with us. He decided to br baptized in February which is aways away but he said there are some things he still needs to figure out. He's seriously the best though. We try to establish goals and see where the people we meet with are at. And when I asked him what he wanted to accomplish with meeting us and how we can help him he said that he wants us to help him get to church and never leave. He also said that before he starting coming and meeting with missionaries years ago his life was fine. He had a good job and alot of friends and none of the problems he now faces. But he also said that he doesn't care because nothing compares to that feeling he had walking into church that first Sunday and he has more joy knowing the gospel now even if he has job difficulties and no friends in this new town. He also said to him church was a family, when he is so disconnected from his real & dysfunctional family.
2)We've had a few rainy days this week and it makes me so happy. I like my new view of a grey cloudy sky, and I think one of the best sounds in the world must be tires driving through the rain. And you can't forget the smell. And look of the rainy cobblestone streets, it's the best.
3)I gave my first priesthood blessing. It didn't go great but good enough! I was patient with myself considering my companion didn't tell me until we saw the car in the parking lot that I was going to give a blessing and that I have to use a tense I haven't learned yet to give it. So yeah anyway it was good experience.
I don't feel like I grew as much this past week but I do know I learn and grow everyday. I also wanted to include what was going to be my spiritual thought last week but ran out of time, but it's actually perfect because I got to listen to a BYU devotional that fits perfectly and allows me to add more to it.
Basically last week like 3 people on the street told us the same thing, and it was actually a good message. It was about how everything can relate back to Love. And the more you think about it the more true it is. We've been given commandments because we're loved and we follow them because of our love back. If we love our neighbor than we want to serve and love them just like Christ would. I'm on a mission as a sign of not just my love but God's love for the people of Italy (thanks Aunt Lacey for that line). And now for some quotes from the devotional given by one of my favorite professors that talk about love. But seriously I wish I could just copy and paste the whole thing here (and the text isn't available yet so some things might be a bit off or a quote that she used from someone else):
■"This teaches us that all commandments, every revealed truth by prophets of God, keys of priesthood authority, the precious truths on the proclamation to the family, all of it is to guide us in the ways of God. That we may become beings of love."
■"He cut through every sin, every storm, every sea, every story the whole way through. For us. To be with us".
■"All sin is in some form a rejection of this relationship with God. It is no wonder that it hurts...please let Him love you"
Anyway I could go on and on it was a great talk. I'll just end with this last quote she shared by Timothy J. Kener (I do not think that's how it's spelled but I can't look it up). It says:"To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known, and truly loved is well... a lot like being loved by God"
And because I feel like I'm becoming a true missionary a verse also came to mind when I re-read these quotes. Moroni 10:3
"Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts."
Love you all!
