Arriving in Italy

Image
Pictures mom grabbed off the mission Facebook post of Anziano Puzey's group arriving in the Italy Milan Mission.  Missionary group arriving in Milan in front of Duomo di Milano.  Jackson is far left front.  Arriving at the Milan Airport. Sister Wood just out of camera shot welcoming Jackson to Italy.  The goal the first day was to keep the missionaries awake to get them on Italian time.  They accomplished this by walking the streets of Milan and taking them back to the mission home for food, interviews and pictures.  Finding out where he will be serving in his first area!  He is assigned to Rimini, Italy with Elder Palmer and Elder Cox.

Jackson had the blessed experience of being in the MTC with his aunt and uncle. Doug's sister Tiffany and her husband, Dave, arrived just a few days after Jackson at the MTC. They were preparing to serve in the mission office of the London Manchester mission.  Jackson ended up having some medical problems while at the MTC that necessitated a couple doctor's visits and an off-campus ultrasound. Aunt Tiff and Uncle Dave were able to drive him to his appointments and be with him during discussions with the doctors.  It was such a blessing to have Aunt Tiffany there, not only to support Jackson during an unsettling time but also to be eyes/ears for us (Mom and Dad) at home. (They also snuck him in contraband snacks like Mountain Dew),  We definitely count this time and experience as a divine signature.  Pictures: Random pictures from the MTC with district and teachers. Hands down my favorite picture of Jackson during his time at the MTC was the one of him wearing sunglas...

Last Week of MTC September 23 2022

Hello All, It's hard to believe that my time at the MTC is almost over. I leave at 4:30 am Monday to head to Italy. I think that this past week has been the most enjoyable week yet. I've had a lot of great experiences here and look forward to more in the field. I think my biggest surprise was how much I enjoyed choir while here. Brother Eggit (?) is the director and I'm not sure exactly what his job is but he tells us stories about the new Hymnbook and when he has directed in General Conference so I'm assuming he's pretty high up. But he also gives amazing spiritual thoughts during practice that always tie into the song we sing. At the MTC its a weird feeling being surrounded by people who are all at the same point in life, or at least all doing the same thing. But in the field my companion and I will be the only people in the world assigned to our specific area. We are the only people assigned to that tree in His Vinyard. Brother Eggit said that to us it may look l...

Week 4&5 September 16 2022

I've been sick this past week which has made many things pretty difficult. It can be hard to focus in class and have good studies both language and personal but I think it will finally be over soon. Just getting it all out of the way so that I can be healthy when I get to Italy. It would be an understatement to say I'm excited to leave for Italy. My language skills may still not be...good, but I'm ready to go.  We've had some great devotionals these past weeks. The first was by Elder and Sister Uchtdorf. And this past Tuesday was President and Sister Teixeira. Both were amazing. And it's been a great experience to be in the choir for both of the devotionals. Pretty sure someone told Elder Uchtdorf that there are alot of people going to European missions right now because his talk was very fitting. It was all about doing well the things that we can control. And to have a positive attitude; about everything. To be thankful for the 'almost' that we will have.  ...

Week 3 September 2 2022

Hello everyone, It's week three of being a missionary which means I am finally at the Provo MTC and in person! I've only been here a couple of days but I have enjoyed it in person more than over zoom. My district and companion are great and the most motivated people I have ever met. I have run into some friends (even some surprises) which always makes my day. I've also only had one real class so far but look forward to more. We got our Italian scriptures and books which felt like Christmas. Fun fact: In the Italian bible Psalms is written like a poem/song. One of the best perks of the MTC is getting to see BYU. I try to take in the view as much as I can. On the first day we got to hear some amazing conversion stories. They were a reminder that God keeps His promises and that everyone can grow their relationship with him. Not much else to report so far but we will see what next week brings. Arrivederci, Anziano Puzey Here are some pictures but I don't think the quality...
