6 months
Not much happened these past 2 weeks. And I wasn't able to write an email last week which may or may not have been due to getting back from a dinner appointment at 11. Most of our lessons fell through and we were mostly trying to find through facebook and street contacting. Last P-day we did get to see Lago Di Carezza & the moutains, it was very beautiful. I don't know if there is really a 'bad area' or zone in our mission but I do feel very blessed being to serve up here in the mountains. It was much colder there then it has been here in Bressanone, but I really enjoyed our snow hike around the lake.
Then on Monday we were able to go back to Milan again, this time to pick up my Permesso!! I'm legal now! (Well I think I always was, but it's still nice to have). It was also a lot less stressful to pick up than it was going the first time. And it only took 3 hours. Since we took the Bolzano Anziani with us we also decided to show the new missionary the Duomo and to grab some food in central Milan since that group of new missionaries was not able to on their first day. This was by far my favorite time seeing the Duomo. Not only did I have the chance to see the new elders face light up as we came out of the metro but it was my first time being able to see Milan at twilight, and it was amazing. While my camera wasn't being my friend that day I attempted to capture all the sounds, the temperature, and glow that the sunset gave the city. While I cannot say it passed my love for Chicago it was still a great visit that reminds me of a talk we heard at last conference:
We participate in the work of creation whenever we cultivate the earth or add our own constructions to this world—as long as we show respect for God’s creations. Our contributions may be expressed through the creation of works of art, architecture, music, literature, and culture, which embellish our planet, quicken our senses, and brighten our lives. We also contribute through scientific and medical discoveries that preserve the earth and life upon it. President Thomas S. Monson summarized this concept with these beautiful words: “God left the world unfinished for man to work his skill upon … that man might know the joys and glories of creation.”
"Our Earthly Stewardship" By Bishop Gérald Caussé
In both of my favorite experience these past weeks I was able to enjoy this beautiful world and amazing gift we have been given. One was largely untouched my man, the other has been transformed and changed for hundreds of years.
This next week should be filled with many more adventures! We have zone conference on Friday and have some high hopes with our friends.
