Temi & Israel

Image
I have already written about the people who were baptized this past week but as a little reminder: Temi and her 3 kids were invited to come to church in the middle of Febuary and have come every week since. We were able to give her the Book of Mormon on that first Sunday and explain a few things about our church and set up a return appointment. Israel and her other sons found friends in the primary and, for the first time, found a church they wanted to keep coming back to. As they kept coming, they truly became a part of the branch and are known by all. They were baptized just a few days after Israel's 8th birthday and enjoyed celebrating with the whole branch. It was a great ceremony and it was so amazing seeing everyone come together. Our primary played a big role. We had them give a special musical number and a few kids talked about their baptismal experience. We had a couple of talks given by the primary leaders that know Israel really well and I think it helped them feel so sp...

Massimiliano

Image
Hello. I am keeping the them of writing an email when we have a baptism. So I will write about Massimiliano! He was a referral from Gian Pietro Taina (a name which has given him problems his whole life as the government changed it to Gianpietro but he will always refer back to how his parents intended it and tell you the story about it every time you write his name). They meet only the week before Gian P. introduced his friend to the missionaries (us). We looked at the church when he told us that he actually went to church in the old building about 20 years ago. We then ate gelato and walked abound the town. This included touring 3 churches (one of which was housing a creepy art exhibit with no light and creepy latin voices in the background).  Fast-forward: SUNDAY Massimilano comes to church. Loves it. Talks a lot in elders quorum (despite not knowing the talk that we were discussing. But that's a good sign because a future church leader has to think on their feet). We then have a...

Transfer 16

Image
Well it's transfers again so that means that I should probably write and email I guess haha. But this time there is a lot to update on.  Also I wrote this on my phone and I know I made many spelling errors but I thought I'd magically remember where and be able to fix it but that doesn't seem to be the case. So in case I have done a bad job on giving updates (which I have), let's run a little reminder. I am currently in Piacenza, a city less than an hour south east of Milan. We are branch with about 50 total showing up on sundays, honestly one of the bigger areas which is fun! When I first arrived the members honestly felt super distant from the missionaries. As I welcomed people in there weren't even many people that would shake my hand or talk to us as they walked in to church. But over the past 2 transfers they have opened up a lot and we have been in their homes move often and gotten to know them for who they truly are. Here are some highlights: *Enrica- One of m...

Transfer 1 in Piacenza

Hello everybody! I know it's been forever but things have been so crazy here that it's been hard to even think about this email. As my last email said, I am now in Piacenza. This area is so far the craziest place that I've been, which is really nice. With not having the most time left I have tried my best to give this city my all. We are a branch here, but less than a year ago it was a ward. So we know its possible to get back haha. I know many people have been praying and helping so lets see what some of that looks like. •In the past transfer we have had 77 people from the street or referred agree to meet with us again! (Not saying they all did but they we're still taught a little bit more about Jesus Christ and his gospel) •We now currently have 3 people with a baptismal date (and a few more praying about a date) •we've had 35 people come join us in church over the past 6 Sundays •Many members have started returning after they took a break for awhile or just used ...

Piacenza

I t's another transfer day! Honestly one of the biggest plot twist of the mission so far. After one transfer in Prato I am now headed to Piacenza. I don't know much to tell about the city. All I know is I am back closer to Milan which is always a plus. I was super sad to leave this ward after just 1 transfer. The members really made me feel loved and I was looking forward to spending more time with them. I was also sad to leave the people we were teaching. But even Ashley said that she's positive that I'm needed in this new city. So if she can have that faith than I can too! The past few weeks have been good! Since my last email we had our lowest finding week right before our highest! It is quite amazing to think of just how many people we meet with and talk to are willing to meet again (although a lot of times they do fall through 😶). I think I've also learned to never make assumptions without all the information you need. We have one friend who we were about to g...

Prato

Image
Whatttttt an email? Yes, I'll try to write a bit about what's going on here in Prato! •Our friend Ashley chose a baptism date! I've never seen someone change so much! She went from not really believing in God to being so sure of His love for her. She also has such powerful experiences with the Book of Mormon. He holds it close to protect her and finds scriptures that help her with everything she has faced. •Our members are powerhouses at bringing the spirit and helping us! We've had lunches with members and friends or recent converts and the members bare such strong testimony. •Working with less actives has been a little focus here. We were able to visit a family with a member and it was great to hear them share their testimonies and be open about struggles. •We have some great missionaries in our district. I've had good exchanges. One took me to Siena. I felt like I was living in medieval time. They live in the city walls just around from a little piazza with a f...
